Rubella Ballet es una de las leyendas, un tanto desconocidas del punk, su sonido va entre el Punk, Gothic Rock, New Wave y el Post punk que se estaba gestando a principios de los ochentas. Estuvieron muy emparentandos en la escena anarco punk británica de los ochentas, realizando presentaciones con bandas como Poison Girls y Crass.
Fueron notablemente reconocidos por su singular estilo en su vestir con colores muy llamativos, estilo fosforecente, con una tendencia muy artística, a pesar de ser una banda punk.
En todo caso se separaron en 1991, después de grabar una notable cantidad de trabajos. La banda revivió en el 2000 con los dos miembros más notables: Sid Truelove y Zillah Minx, y este año presentaron un nuevo trabajo titulado "Planet Punk", el primer disco en 14 años desde "At the end of the raindow"
